Read our article about what it takes to become an HVAC technician.
HVAC training school graduates will enter an environment that offers eager graduates a hot career choice. Certified HVAC technicians can choose to focus on heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning. However, the more well rounded your skills, the better your job opportunities will be. Specialize in the area that is most important and interesting to you. Any building that has climate controls will at some point during the life of the unit require maintenance or repairs. Certified HVAC technicians can perform this maintenance and repairs on heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for private clients and corporate customers alike. HVAC technicians install new units or replace parts on existing units according to regulated specifications and established safety guidelines.
After completion of a certified HVAC training program you may find job opportunities with small heating and air conditioning businesses or with larger equipment manufacturers or even wholesalers. Large building sites such as educational institutions, high rises and hospitals may require their own on-site maintenance technicians with HVAC training certifications to keep the property operating efficiently and to minimize service interruptions. If you'd like to manage an HVAC business, or even operate an HVAC business of your own, then you should also include business administration and management courses as part of your overall training. Whether you are looking for a new career, or strengthening the skills you already have, taking HVAC training courses will give you the knowledge you need to gain solid employment.
